Scottish cottage previously owned by Jimmy Savile is demolished
- Jimmy Savile's former Highland cottage, Allt-na-Reigh in Glen Coe, has been demolished after years of damage and vandalism following the revelations of his extensive abuse.
- Savile owned the property on the A82 from 1998 for approximately 13 years until his death in 2011, after which it became a target for repeated attacks, including a fire and graffiti.
- Highland Council confirmed the approval of a Building Warrant for demolition on 24 February 2026, with pictures showing the whitewashed cottage completely razed to the ground.
- Local residents expressed their delight at the demolition, with Councillor Andrew Baxter stating it removes a 'blight' and an 'embarrassment' connected to Savile from the scenic Glen Coe area.
- A new property is planned for the site, which will honour renowned Scottish mountaineer Hamish MacInnes, who previously owned the cottage before Savile.
