Baltimore Ravens star O.J. Brigance dies following battle with ALS

  • O.J. Brigance, who won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens, has died at the age of 56.
  • He was diagnosed in 2007 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
  • Alongside his wife Chanda, Brigance established the Brigance Brigade Foundation to support and empower people living with the condition.
  • Despite his illness, he served as senior adviser for player engagement with the Ravens from 2004 onwards, using a wheelchair and communication device.
  • Brigance remains the only player to win both a Canadian Football League Grey Cup and an NFL Super Bowl title for Baltimore.
