Trump says Secret Service wanted him to switch planes after threat: ‘I do what they tell me’

Donald Trump has confirmed that he switched planes after the Secret Service detected a possible threat when leaving a Nato summit in Turkey.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday (11 August), the US president said that he followed the orders of the Secret Service and military who “wanted me to go in a different flight, different plane”.

“They wanted me to do it, and I do what they say.”

Asked about the nature of the threat, which was reported to have come from Iran, Mr Trump said that he didn’t enquire for further details. “I get a lot of threats.”

It comes after reports claimed that the US president was smuggled off of Air Force One in a catering cart and transported onto a military aircraft, as he departed the summit in Ankara on 8 July.
