Coronation Street star issues emotional breast cancer update after surgery

A Coronation Street icon who has been diagnosed with breast cancer has shared her anxieties as she admits she is “feeling rubbish”.

Beverley Callard, 68, who played Rovers Return bartender Liz McDonald for three decades on the ITV soap, told RTÉ’s Late Late Show last month that the illness is in its “very early stages”.

Posting an update on Instagram on Tuesday (3 March), the 68-year-old apologised for not keeping fans updated recently. “I've not posted for the last couple of days because, to be honest, I'm just really tired, I'm rubbish at the moment.”

Callard shared that she is hoping to go back to work this week, including an appearance at a red carpet, which she described as “the most worrying thing”.

It comes after Callard updated fans on her surgery.
